With the weather getting closer to freezing all the time, my kids and I spent a good chunk of the afternoon harvesting veg and putting the garden to sleep for the year. The amazement and excitement in their faces when they see how the tiny seeds that were planted all those months ago have grown into amazing colourful vegetables. Priceless.
I have to say, with the all the erratic weather this summer, much of the garden got flooded-more than once. Thankfully all was not lost, and the raised centre piece that my kids and I built this spring was home to 80% of the medicinal herbs we planted. Borage, astragalus, marshmallow, California poppy, sage, lavender, calendula, anise, chamomile, evening primrose, yarrow, motherwort, valerian and much more not only survived, but most of them thrived. Looking forward to using some of them in my new mom/baby, pregnancy/postpartum line.
