June is the month that holds the summer solstice, and is the perfect month to charge your water with solar energy and take it to the next level. An infusion is a very simple, yet ancient tradition of preparing plants and water while using the sun’s energy to extract the essence and healing properties from them. The rose hips contain calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium and are high in vitamin C.
The individual petals are somewhat heart shaped making this a great infusion for the heart chakra. I don’t know about you, but I can’t help but feel good in my heart when I see wild roses. Rose is the flower of June, and here in Manitoba, you can find them blossoming everywhere. This is truly grandmothers medicine for me. My granny, Alice, loved roses and although she’s passed on, I still see her all around and think of her every time I catch the scent of one.
All you need to do is fill a large glass jar full of spring water and place a few handfuls of rose petals in the water. Cover the lid with a cheesecloth to keep the bugs out and place in direct sunlight. Let the sun infuse your water for a minimum of 5 hours. Strain, and enjoy your magical water, and the long days of summer! Be kind and gentle with yourself. Dandelions or red clover also work as a good substitute for rose, but will give you a different medicine all together.
The Heart chakra is about Love * Healing * Balance * Relationship * Air* Unity* Self-acceptance * Grief
“Being a friend to yourself is no mere metaphor or purely sentimental idea. It is the basis of all relationship, because it is a fundamental recognition of soul.” – Thomas Moore
